Must Watch: Why and How to Give an Ignite Talk

Thinking about participating in Ignite Corvallis 5? Then this is a must watch!

Scott Berkun - "Why and How to Give an Ignite Talk"

Ignite Corvallis 5 Will Be November 18th, 2013 - Submit your idea today!

Posted on August 4, 2013 by Jason P

Ignite Corvallis 5 is coming November 18th, 2013 as part of the Willamette Innovators Night 2013.

The deadline for proposal submission is October 23rd, 2013 - Submit your proposals/Ignite ideas here!

The final lineup will be selected by October 29th, 2013.

If you had five minutes to talk to Corvallis what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Launch a web site? Teach a hack? Talk about recent learning, successes, failures? Inspire people to act? Fill out the form to submit your talk.

Not sure if your idea makes sense to share?  Head on over to the "About" page and learn more.  Here is a snippet that should give you an idea:

We want Ignite to be about promoting and sharing burning ideas. If those ideas happen to take the form of the company you work for, the startup you’re trying to get funded, or any other self-serving commercial interest, then so be it. We’re fine with it, really. But whatever you present had better be interesting, because that’s what it’s going to be judged on in people’s minds. if you’re going to market to people at Ignite Corvallis, you’d better be smart about it. Because if you’re not, it’s likely to blow up in your face, and end up making people hate you. Don’t say we never warned you.
Don’t do anything that’s going to get you or us in trouble. Nothing blatantly illegal (I’m not talking about “how to rip a DVD”, I’m talking about “how to make meth in your kitchen” or “how to make a car bomb”). In short, I guess the only “real” rule is “Don’t Be Stupid”. That seems to cover pretty much everything, doesn’t it?
